Christmas is our favorite time of year. I think one of my personal favorite feelings is looking out my window at the cold, blizzard – like weather while sitting by the glow of the lit Christmas tree and feeling the complete warmth in my heart from the love of Jesus.
We have a few family traditions around Christmas. You can usually find us driving through different neighborhoods on the weekends looking at lights. We also always go to Bronson Park to see the lights and nativity scene. We do lots of Jesus – centered Christmas crafts with the kids. We decorate the trees—yes, plural (we have 3) as a family.
On Christmas Eve we let the kids each pick out a birthday balloon. Then, on Christmas morning we have cinnamon rolls for breakfast. These are our special birthday rolls, as we put candles in them and sing happy birthday to Jesus. Then we go outside and the kids release their birthday balloons up to Heaven “so they can reach Jesus on his birthday”.
We want our children to know that Christmas is celebrated because of our savior’s birth. We read them the Christmas Story from the Bible many times during this time of year. Their favorite part of the story comes from Luke 1:30 “Do not be afraid Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! ”
This is a very special time of year, and we feel so blessed that God has given us so many opportunities to share His love with others. We wish you all a blessed and very Merry Christmas!

Mary made ‘room’ in her life to serve God by giving birth to Jesus.
What are some ways You can ‘make room’ for Jesus this Christmas season?
