When Opportunity Knocks…

When Opportunity Knocks, what do you do?

Do you take it? Do you look at it as an opportunity for a new direction? Do you welcome the new opportunity as a ‘new lease on life’?

OR, do you resist? Are you suspicious? Do you think of all the ways the ‘Current’ is better than this opportunity?

Generally speaking, I tend to be a person who likes things the way they are. I have a good life, I’m blessed with a wonderful wife and great kids, a position that I love in a church that I’m passionate about. However, if God wants to start ‘doing a new thing’, I don’t want to resist Him!

Many of us are facing this choice.

I know you are, because most of you who read this blog attend KCC, and we’ve been talking about that ‘New Thing’ frequently.

So…are you taking it? Are you welcoming the New Opportunity?

Specifically, we’ve been considering ‘What if‘.

“What If…Jesus really did come to give us LIFE–to the Full? Life more Abundantly?

What if He really is wanting to bless us, as we follow Him?

What if He really does have ‘Spiritual Blessing’ in store for us, as well as Personal growth and health, Relational blessing and health, Physical health, growth and blessing, Financial health and blessing, as well as Vocational growth, purpose and blessing in store for us.

Would you want it?

Would you be willing to change anything in order to receive it?

Let’s be honest: Many of us are not.

We may hear the messages on Sunday (from Pastor Jeff or myself), and in some cases, we may be interested, motivated, moved or whatever.

Do we actually DO anything about it?

Have you used the ‘Self-Evaluation Questions’? Any of the weeks?

Have you joined a ‘Thriving’ Group? Are you reading the book?

I am convinced that many of us, when presented with an opportunity for a “New Thing” in our lives, back off. Even when the New Thing is coming from God.

I want to encourage you to ask yourself: Do you believe it?

Do you believe that God wants to bless His children, as they learn to go by the principles or teaching in His Word? Do you believe that He really does have good things in store for us, as we follow and worship Him with our lives?

You do? Great!

This week, when “opportunity knocks”, let’s open the door! Let’s give God some leeway to move in our lives! Let’s willingly put ourselves–like clay–into His hands and let Him mold us and make us new!

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
