Happy New Year!
As we say ‘Goodbye’ to 2014 and ‘Hello’ to 2015, we stand on the verge of new beginnings…LOTS of new beginnings. For some of us, that’s a relief! 2014 may have been a tough year for you, and a new year represents a ‘new lease on life’. Others had a blessed 2014 and are hoping and praying that 2015 is similar.
No matter what the past year was like, I want to encourage you: If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, make sure that you are intentionally, consciously and deliberately representing HIM each and every day!
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” (Matthew 5:13-15)
You and I, as Jesus’ followers, are to be confident, bold and consistent in the way we ‘represent’ Him.
We should be standing for His truth, His way, and the Life that He offers. We should be living and loving the way He did. We should be seeking to share Him with everyone, all the time.
We must care much less about what other people think and do, and much more about what He does.
Let’s be clear: There is much darkness, despair and conflict in our world.
Our world NEEDS The Light!
..and that means that WE–believers in Jesus Christ–need to ‘BRING IT’!
Occasionally I get on my kids’ nerves by using a phrase that reminds them of this:
“Bring The Light!”, I say…it’s just a way of reminding them that THEY need to be the ones that ‘bring Jesus’ into their world. As we say often, “The Church is God’s ‘Plan A’; there is no ‘Plan B’!” .
The Apostle Paul said it this way:
“…He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)
You and I need to ‘Bring The Light’!
