Wake Up!

Most Americans don’t get enough sleep.

Experts tell us that, depending on our age, we need approx. 8 hours of sleep per night, just to function at peak effectiveness.

I don’t know any adult that gets that much. I certainly don’t!

Yet, as good and important as ‘sleep’ is, there are times it’s even more important that we are WIDE AWAKE!

Christmas is one of those times.

We need to ‘wake up’ to the stuff going on around us in this world, and realize that the message of God’s love, as shown in Jesus, on that first Christmas is still THE message that this world needs to hear.

Conflict, strife, war, chaos, natural disasters, divorce, economic collapse, job loss, bullying…there are no shortage of things to get us–and those around us–down.

The real question is, ‘What can give us HOPE in a world full of pain?’.

The answer is the same as it was on that 1st Christmas: JESUS!

HE is the reason for Hope–in this life, and for Eternity!

We simply need to ‘Wake Up’ to that reality! We need to place our faith in Him, acknowledge Him as Lord, and give Him control over our lives. In so doing, we will finally get the Hope, Direction, and Purpose that we were designed for.

If we refuse to do that, we will continue to have no hope.

We dare not ‘sleep’ through this day–our day of opportunity!

“This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,
    rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” (Ephesians 5:14-17)

Are you sleeping?

WAKE UP and celebrate Jesus!

Consider and Discuss: How was it that God ‘woke YOU up’ to Jesus? How would He want to use You to wake Others up?
