If you’ve been around Kalamazoo Community Church (www.mykcc.org) at all this summer, you’ve heard us talk about the “Summer Sizzle“, usually followed by a ‘sizzling’ noise (ssssssssssssssss). We’ve encouraged our people to set their calendars for this Sunday the 24th after the 2nd service to join us for a Church Family get together that is going to be EPIC!
Why is this important? Why should people who are already busy make time for this? Many are trying to squeeze the last few weeks of summer for all their worth…why should they prioritize this?
First and foremost, our ‘church family’ is…FAMILY!
The only way it really works well is if we are in relationship with one another, and the only way that happens is if we spend time together, create memories together, and enjoy each other–in addition to all the good stuff that happens on a typical Sunday morning. The reality is that each and every relationship you have can only be as good as the investment you are willing to make in to it. This is an opportunity to ‘invest yourself’ in your Church family in a way which will pay dividends each and every week of the year!
Secondly, it’s going to be FUN!
Where else can you win prizes for tossing bean-bags, eating cupcakes, throwing a football, or spitting cherry-pits? Where else can your kids enjoy a bounce-house, splash zone and have their faces painted? Where else can you have a GOOD meal, get to know some people better, and have a lot of fun while doing it–all for free (except for the $5-per-car fee)? ,
Thirdly, it’s an opportunity to serve an Important Cause.
The health of the Church in America is not great. Individual churches are losing member, closing doors, and having less impact. We simply refuse to accept that at KCC. Therefore, any service you can provide to help strengthen this church is an important investment. We need helpers this week–setting up, tearing down, painting faces, guarding the bounce house…and every minute you invest yourself in serving in one of these areas is and ‘investment’ in our church and it’s health. This stuff actually matters!
So come out and join us this week–12:30–4:00 at River Oaks Park in Galesburg. (See it here: http://www.kalcounty.com/PARKS/riveroaks/index.html)
Bring a dish to pass and your favorite dessert to share. Bring camp chairs or blankets so that you can watch all the fun. Bring a big smile and a friendly attitude, and you’ll be glad you did!
