He’s ALIVE! (That Changes Everything!)

Matthew 28: 1-7

“Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.
2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. 3 His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow.4 The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.
5 Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. 7 And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

Remember why we celebrate: It’s because HE HAS RISEN, and this changes EVERYTHING!
Jesus is ALIVE, today…as staggering as that thought is–It was miraculous, unprecedented, and totally outside the laws of physics, biology, and so on…but it HAPPENED, and that’s why you and I are united today in our preparation for this Sunday’s celebration.
Jesus is ALIVE! We’ve got to let everyone know!
It must be clear to all: if He did conquer sin, death, and the grave, and if He’s ALIVE, (and we believe He is), Then it changes everything–for everyone! It changes history, It changes perspective, It changes goals and priorities, and of course, it changes Eternity!

I don’t mean ‘It changes everything for the believer’, or ‘It changes everything for those who want to be religious’, but ‘It Changes Everything…for EVERYONE’!

If He conquered sin and death, He is The One that He said He was!

If He conquered our last enemy–the grave–then He deserves worship like no one else!

If He Conquered all challenges–even death–then He is GOD and He will be worshiped. The beautiful thing…the amazing invitation…is that we get to worship Him and know Him in the here and now!

We must tell the world! It’s too important to keep to ourselves!

Think about it: Who in YOUR world needs to know?

Invite them…THIS SUNDAY!

He is ALIVE!

Mind Your Roots!

We all have ‘roots’…but they might not be what you think.

The roots I’m speaking of are roots that we plant–things we invest ourselves in, decisions we make which go a long way toward determining the kind of people we are.

Think about the trees or plants that are filling our ‘Outdoor Garden Centers’ all around the state right now…so much promise, so many color possibilities.

Any gardener, landscaper or farmer will tell you, however, that the plant itself is only one of many factors in whether or not you end up with a beautiful flower, a healthy tree or a bountiful crop.

There are several other factors that go into it, from the amount of sunshine and water it gets to fertilization, to the quality of the soil it’s planted in.

If a good plant is planted in unhealthy soil and does not get enough water, fertilizer and sunlight, that plant will fail.

It’s a similar scenario with us–our hearts, our spiritual lives, our connection with God.

As David wrote in Psalm 1:

“Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers…” (Psalm 1:1-3)

The person who’s ‘spiritual roots’ are sunk into the good soil of the Word of God, and who drinks it in continually, will be blessed.

They will be like a tree that gets plenty of water…they will yield ‘fruit’, their leaves will not wither, and everything they do will prosper.

This is God’s plan for you!

This is why it is SO important for you to invest yourself into things which will give you life!

The Word of God, Prayer, Fellowship, Service to God and Others, Generosity, Worship of the Lord.

These are the things which make the ‘soil’ of our lives good and healthy!

Unfortunately, there are many who are ‘planted in’ soil which is NOT healthy and helpful.

Yet, they sometimes expect to reap the healthy ‘fruit’ in their lives.

It will not work!

“Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.” (Psalm 1:4-5)

Question: Do you want to be spiritually healthy and productive, or would you rather be ‘like chaff that the wind blows away’?

Plant yourself into the soil of God’s Word and water the seeds of faith with the things mentioned above.

You’ll be glad you did!

“For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.” (Psalm 1:6)
